A Happy + Healthy Vegetarian

To be a happy and healthy vegetarian is to be our own vegetarian. Connected with the positive influence a compassionate, meat-free diet can have on our body, mind and soul and guided by an individual set of goals and ideals. There’s no need to live up to others expectations of what a vegetarian is, quite simply each and every vegetarian is different. Weather we fit a perfect mould or have our own definition, the most important thing is to stay healthy and happy as we venture through our vegetarian journey.

There are a few simply steps to achieving a meat-free diet on our own terms and it all begins with asking some straightforward questions, allowing freedom and space to enjoy the journey, embracing healthy vegetarian eating and ultimately being the vegetarian we want to be.

Establish what being vegetarian means to you

While it would be fair to say there are as many reasons people choose to be vegetarian as there are vegetarians, the very best reason, is one based on our own ideals.

Ask yourself:

  • What is my reason for cutting out meat?
  • Why is being vegetarian important to me?
  • Do I aim to be a strict vegetarian and cut out all animal products or simply cut out meat?
  • Will I only cut out some meat and animal products and include others?
  • Will I still eat meat on occasion?

Defining the reason behind our choice provides a strong incentive and motivation to keep on track. While establishing our own set of guidelines allows us to approach a healthy vegetarian diet at a pace and to an extent that’s realistic and achievable.
